Guest Wi-Fi for pubs, hotels & cafés

Guest Wi-Fi, done by the book.

Guests get online in seconds, on a sign-in page that's unmistakably yours. You get a list of people who've said yes to hearing from you — for quiz night, the new menu, the quiet midweek. Every consent recorded. Every record provable.

What you get

Built for front of house — and for the paperwork.

Six entries, properly kept: the welcome your guests see, the record you can stand behind, and the team that runs it all.

No. 01 · Brand

Your brand, front and centre

Guests see your venue, not ours. Set your logo, colours, welcome message and background photo in the self-serve designer — with a live preview as you go, and nothing published until you say so.

  • Draft and publish, with version history
  • Private preview links to share with colleagues
  • Hard-to-read colour combinations corrected automatically
  • Photos optimised for you — upload and forget

No. 02 · Guests

A guest experience that just works

The portal is extraordinarily lightweight. It loads instantly in the phone's own sign-in window and works on any phone, however old — no app, no faff, no queue at the bar asking for the password.

  • Returning guests recognised and waved straight through
  • After sign-in, send guests to your booking page, your website, or the day's offer
  • If Zest is ever unreachable, guests still get online — connectivity comes first

No. 03 · The ledger

A guest list you can stand behind

Every sign-in becomes a record that holds up: what each guest agreed to, and exactly when — versioned, timestamped, tamper-evident. If anyone ever asks, the answer is a lookup, not a scramble.

Consent wording is versioned, the marketing opt-in is always separate, and the records can't be quietly edited — by anyone.

Consent ledger — The Harbour ArmsOnly ever added to · never quietly edited
Illustrative consent ledger for a fictional venue, showing timestamped sign-ins, the consent version each guest agreed to, their marketing choice, a logged automatic clean-up of older records and a right-to-be-forgotten erasure.

12:21:40Right to be forgotten — one guest erased, connected tools updated, blocked from creeping back

Illustrative records for a fictional venue — yours will look this tidy too.

Every "Opted in" row is a guest you're allowed to invite back.

Forms, yours
Name, email and up to a dozen custom fields — drop-downs included.
Retention, automatic
You choose how long each venue keeps records. Older ones delete themselves — every deletion noted in the log.
Erasure, two clicks
Right to be forgotten — connected marketing tools included.
Answers, one click
A guest asks what you hold? The full answer is one click. And your whole list downloads as a CSV any time.

No. 04 · Marketing

A list that grows on its own

Every busy Friday adds people who've asked to hear from you — the audience for quiz night, the new menu, the Sunday you'd like fuller. Connect your marketing tools and it flows on its own; only guests who ticked the box are ever synced. Not policy — mechanics. Contacting anyone else is impossible by design.

  • Feeds the tools you already send email from — webhooks today, Mailchimp due in the coming weeks
  • Failed syncs retry automatically
  • Erased guests can't creep back onto your list
The consent gate is mechanical, not a policy — there is no setting that sends an un-ticked guest.

No. 05 · Teams & sites

Run it as a team, across every site

One account, every venue — each with its own portal, sign-in form and policies. Give people exactly the access they need, and watch each site go from portal views to sign-ins to online.

  • Team roles with per-site permissions
  • Two-factor authentication wherever guest data is touched

No. 06 · Managed by Netmo

Managed, monitored, transparent

Netmo monitors the platform with automated alerting — problems announce themselves rather than waiting to be reported. Need a hand with setup or the records? You're talking to the people who built it. And when support ever needs access to your account, you see exactly what happened — every time.

  • UK-hosted on Microsoft Azure — your guest data kept separate from every other customer's
  • Uploaded images re-processed to strip anything malicious

What a list is for

Six things you could send this month.

Zest builds the list and keeps it lawful. What it's for is the fun part — here's the sort of thing venues send.

  • The quiet Tuesday

"Pie night tomorrow — six pies, £6 each, and we'll keep you a table."

The Harbour Arms, to everyone who ticked the box, on a Monday afternoon.

  • The Sunday roast

"Roast beef and all the trimmings this Sunday — book by Saturday."

The Harbour Arms again — sent Friday morning, while the weekend is being planned.

  • Quiz night

"The quiz is back on Thursday — teams of six, winner takes the bar tab."

Announce it to people who've actually been in.

  • The birthday pudding

"Happy birthday month — pudding's on us."

Add a "birthday month" drop-down to your sign-in form, and send the note when it comes round.

  • The book-direct note

"The sea-view rooms are open for next summer — book direct with us."

The Bay Hotel asks about the stay at sign-in, so eleven months on it knows who to write to.

  • The regulars' bulletin

"This month at the Kettle — a new blend, new hours, and a loyalty card at last."

From The Copper Kettle — the people who'd care are the ones who sign in every week.

Illustrative — fictional venues, and ideas rather than promises. What you send, and what comes of it, is your cooking's business.

How it works

Three steps to live. Two of them are yours.

  1. Connect your UniFi network

Setup is self-serve: you connect Zest to your UniFi network, and most venues are live within two working days. Stuck at any step? The people who built Zest step in. Not on UniFi yet? We'll tell you exactly what you'd need.

  2. You design your portal

Logo, colours, welcome message, sign-in form. Live preview as you go — publish when it looks right.

  3. Guests sign in, your list grows — compliantly

Guests are online in seconds, and every consent goes down in the record. Your list grows on its own — compliantly.

GDPR & the marketing rules

Built to help you stay compliant.

Guest Wi-Fi comes with duties — consent, retention, erasure, and PECR, the UK rules on marketing messages. Zest doesn't leave them on your plate: it keeps the books for you.

Your venue

Your guests, your list, your decisions. Zest collects data on your behalf, under your policies.

Data controller

Netmo

Runs the platform and processes guest data only on your instructions — and keeps it safe.

Data processor

Zest is built to help you stay compliant — a well-kept record, not legal advice.

Versioned consent

The exact wording each guest agreed to, and when. Change your terms and the history keeps both versions.

Tamper-evident records

Consent history can't be quietly edited — by your team, or by ours.

Automatic retention

Set a window per venue; older records delete themselves on schedule, and every deletion is noted in the log.

Complete erasure

Right to be forgotten in two clicks — including connected marketing tools, and erased guests can't creep back.

Answers on demand

A guest asking what you hold gets the full answer in one click — the subject-access export — and your list downloads as a CSV whenever you need it.

Pricing

One line on your books.

Every feature, one price. No tiers, no add-ons, no surprises at renewal — because there is no renewal, just a rolling month.

A second venue is simply another line: £20, per site, per month.

Questions

Plain answers to fair questions.

Who is responsible for the data — us or you?

Your venue is the data controller — the guest list is yours, collected under your policies. Netmo is the data processor: we handle guest data only to run Zest for you. The platform is built so that doing the right thing is the default.

Do we need new hardware?

Zest is built for UniFi — Ubiquiti's widely used business Wi-Fi kit. If your venue already runs it, you're ready to go, with nothing else to buy. Not sure what you run? Email a photo of your router and we'll tell you — it's a perfectly good first question. And if you're not on UniFi yet, we'll tell you exactly what you'd need before anything is ordered.

UniFi already has a free guest portal. Why pay £20?

It does, and for some venues it's the right choice: the built-in portal puts your logo and terms in front of guests and gets them online, and if you don't want guest data, use it with our blessing. Zest is for the moment you want the list — emails captured at sign-in, a marketing opt-in you can prove, records that tidy themselves, and consented sign-ups flowing to your marketing tools — run for you, for £20 a month. The full, honest comparison is here.

What happens if Zest has an outage?

Your guests still get online. The portal is built so connectivity always comes first — a wobble at our end never stands between your guests and the internet.

Will guests share the network my tills run on?

No — on a standard setup the guest network is its own network, kept apart from your tills, card machines and office kit. Guests get the internet; your business systems stay yours.

Who owns the guest data?

You do. The venue owns its guest list, and you can export it as CSV whenever you like. Zest's job is to keep that list accurate, lawful and provable.

Can I run more than one venue?

Yes — Zest is multi-site from day one. One account covers every venue, each with its own portal, sign-in form and policies. Each venue keeps its own guest list — lists aren't pooled across the group. Pricing stays simple: £20 per site, per month.

What can my staff see and do?

You decide. Team roles and per-site permissions keep access to exactly what each person needs, and any account that touches guest data is protected with two-factor authentication.

How do guests actually sign in?

They join your Wi-Fi and your branded portal opens in the phone's own sign-in window — instantly, however old the phone. A short form, an explicit consent tick, and they're online. Returning guests can be recognised and waved straight through.

Do hotel guests sign in every day?

No — once per stay, per device. A guest signs in on arrival and stays connected for the visit; their phone and laptop each sign in once.

How does my list reach my marketing tools?

Via webhooks today — a standard feed your marketing tools can read — with a direct Mailchimp connection due in the coming weeks. No marketing software? Download your list as a CSV and email your regulars from wherever you already write emails. Only guests who ticked the marketing box are ever synced, and failed syncs retry automatically.

What would I actually send to the list?

Whatever fills tables: quiz night, the new menu, a Sunday with covers to spare, a birthday pudding. There are six worked examples further up the page — Zest builds the list and keeps it lawful; what you send is your call.

Put your guest Wi-Fi to work — by the book.

Sign up, connect your UniFi network, and design your portal — most venues are live within two working days. Your guests do the rest.
