No. 01 · What you'd send

What you'd send — ideas, not promises.

Take The Harbour Arms — an imaginary pub with a real problem: full on Friday, quiet on Tuesday. Its list is people who've been in and ticked the box, so a short email lands with exactly the right crowd.

Pie night, Tuesday
"Pie night tomorrow — we'll keep you a table." Sent Monday afternoon, to people who've actually been in.
Sunday roast, sent Friday morning
"Roast beef and all the trimmings — book by Saturday." Out while the weekend is still being planned.
Quiz night
"The quiz is back on Thursday — teams of six." Announced to the regulars who ticked the box.

No promised results — just small arithmetic. If one email fills one table, one time, in a month — you're ahead.

No. 02 · The paperwork

Done by the book — and the book keeps itself.

A guest list comes with rules — UK GDPR, and PECR, the UK rules on marketing messages. The roles are worth one plain sentence: your pub is the data controller (the list is yours, collected under your policies), and Netmo is the data processor (we handle guest data only to run Zest for you).

Zest is built to help you stay compliant — a well-kept record, not legal advice. The record-keeping most venues dread simply runs itself.

Consent history can't be quietly edited — by your team, or by ours. And the rest of the duties look after themselves:

  • The marketing opt-in is always separate — getting online never depends on ticking it
  • What each guest agreed to, and exactly when — versioned, timestamped, tamper-evident
  • Older records delete themselves on schedule — you set the window, and every deletion is noted in the log
  • If anyone ever asks, the answer is a lookup, not a scramble.

The whole story, in plain English: our guide to guest Wi-Fi and UK GDPR.

No. 03 · How it starts

One email starts it.

  1. Email hello@netmo.it

Write to hello@netmo.it — the pub's name and your town are plenty. Not sure what you run? Email a photo of your router and we'll tell you — it's a perfectly good first question.

  2. Connect your Wi-Fi

Zest is built for UniFi (Ubiquiti's widely used business Wi-Fi kit — your installer will know). Setup is self-serve: you connect Zest to your network from your dashboard. Stuck at any step? The people who built Zest step in.

  3. Go live

Design your sign-in page — logo, colours, welcome — and press publish. From that first email, most venues are live within two working days. From the first busy Friday, the list grows on its own.

If Zest is ever unreachable, guests still get online — connectivity comes first. The full walk-through, step by step, is at how it works.

No. 04 · The price

One price, everything in.

£20 per site, per month + VAT · rolling monthly · cancel anytime

That's about 65p a day, plus VAT. No setup fee, no tiers, no add-ons — every feature is included from the first month.

Questions

Fair questions from behind the bar.

I've no idea what Wi-Fi kit the pub runs. Where do I start?

Ask whoever set up your Wi-Fi — "is it UniFi?" is the whole question. Already on UniFi, there's nothing new to buy; not on it, we'll say exactly what you'd need before anything is ordered. Or skip the homework and email us a photo of the router — step 1, above.

Our installer says our UniFi kit already has a guest portal. Do we need Zest too?

Your installer's half right — the built-in portal gets guests online under your logo, and if you never want the guest list, keep it with our blessing. Zest earns its keep the day you do want the list — one you can prove, with record-keeping that runs itself. The dated, side-by-side comparison with UniFi's built-in portal has the rest.

My daughter does the emails. Will this fit how we already work?

Yes — nothing about the sending has to change. Your whole list downloads as a CSV any time, so she can email your regulars from wherever she already writes emails. And if she'd rather it flowed automatically, consented sign-ups can flow onwards via webhooks — a standard feed your marketing tools can read. Only guests who ticked the box are ever synced.

Who do we actually talk to if something goes wrong?

The people who built it. Zest is designed, built and run in house by Netmo — a UK managed service provider whose day job is running business networks. Email hello@netmo.it and it lands with someone who can answer it properly. We reply within one working day.
